Here's the settings that have worked for me:

MEMORY ALLOCATION:  Dynamic
SWAP MEDIUM      :  File (I'd use a partition but I'm so short on HD space that
                          I want this memory readily free-able just in case)
SWAP FILE SIZE   :  16M (Twice the amount of RAM I have, but mostly arbitrary)
MEMORY TYPE      :  Fast
PRIORITY OF VM   :  25


If you aren't using Version 1.2 of VMM40, get it.
